So Glad to be Me--Self-Esteem Workshop, Nov 29

The Centre was the happy host to about 50 young girls last week. They were attending a self-esteem workshop entitled 'So Glad to be Me' led by Jen Charbonneau. The halls were filled with a lot of youthful excitement.
Sacred Threads Retreat

Some fourteen joyous quilters at the conclusions of our annual Sacred Threads Retreat. Many thanks to Jacquie Wolgemuth and Ann Coulas for their facilitation, quilting skills and warm spirits!

The EcoPulse Youth Group in Killaloe, Nov 10/07

20 Young people from our Eco-Pulse Youth Group went on an Eco-Tour to Killaloe and environs on the weekend. They visited energy-efficient/off-the-grid residences at Morningglory Farm and Skye Faris' house, tried out the local radio station, CHCR (thanks Peter!) and visited the local health foods store. Here they pose in front a mural done by local youth. Special thanks to Dominica and Amber for all their hard work!

Bay of Quinte United Church, National Conference Nov 2-9
Our halls have been filled with song all week. The singers are about 40 United Church ministers from across Canada who are here for a conference entitled, Building Skills in a time of Transitional Ministry. The conference is sponsored by the Bay of Quinte Conference.

The Thrust of Jungian Spirituality Oct 26, 2007
Some forty people attended the last Friday Night Lecture, Toward a Wider Embrace: the Thrust of Jungian Spirituality. Led by author, John Dourley, the workshop explored the religious thought of psychologist Carl Jung. Our next Friday night lecture is with noted evolutionary bioligist and futurist Elisabet Sahtouris on November 23 at 7:30 Pm.

Seiko, a young woofer from Japan, is staying at the Centre this week helping with the Garden Harvest. We are happy to have her. She has an infectious smile and is teaching us all how to write our names in Japanese. Thanks to Lynne Epps for locating and transporting her.

Senator Jim Munson addresses the Renfrew County Business Community at a luncheon on Child Poverty at a conference organized today by CPAN--The Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network. One in eight children in Renfrew County live below the poverty level, but in pockets like the City of Pembroke the figures are higher-- 26.2 % of children live below the poverty level. Aug 31/2007--Graduation under the Crabapple
John Macgillivray and his art students sit under the crabapple tree after the last day of class. This week the kids have been picking flowers to paint, doing sketches of the hospital across the street and learning about art under the skillful direction of local artist John MacGillivray. It was a treat to have them around, a treat to watch them learn and now to see them graduate.
